When your pet isn’t feeling well, getting to the right diagnosis quickly matters. At Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center, our in-house laboratory and advanced diagnostic imaging allow our veterinary team to gather the information they need to understand your pet’s condition and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Having many diagnostic services available within our hospital means less waiting and fewer outside appointments. From routine bloodwork to advanced MRI and CT imaging, our team has access to the tools needed to evaluate a wide range of medical conditions.
Our laboratory provides access to more than 200 diagnostic tests, allowing our veterinarians to evaluate your pet’s health and investigate potential illnesses. Depending on your pet’s needs, testing may include:
Our laboratory provides timely results seven days a week, including holidays, helping our veterinary team make informed decisions when your pet needs answers.
Digital X-rays provide detailed images of your pet’s bones, teeth, and internal structures and can help diagnose everything from fractures and dental disease to internal abnormalities. Our team can perform both full-body and dental radiographs, with images available for review by a board-certified veterinary radiologist when needed.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to create detailed, real-time images of your pet’s internal organs. It can help evaluate the heart, liver, kidneys, bladder, gastrointestinal tract, and other structures and may be used to investigate conditions such as heart disease, bladder stones, and abdominal abnormalities.
For more complex cases, advanced imaging such as CT and MRI can provide highly detailed views of your pet’s bones, organs, soft tissues, and nervous system.
Our 64-slice CT scanner produces detailed cross-sectional and 3D images that can assist with diagnosing conditions such as cancer, fractures, and neurologic disorders.
MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create exceptionally detailed images of soft tissues, making it particularly valuable for evaluating the brain, spinal cord, and other complex structures. Images from CT and MRI studies can be reviewed by board-certified veterinary radiologists to support an accurate diagnosis.
Endoscopy provides a minimally invasive way to examine certain areas inside your pet’s body using a small camera attached to a flexible scope. Depending on the situation, endoscopy may be used to evaluate the respiratory, gastrointestinal, or urinary systems and can sometimes help avoid more invasive exploratory procedures.
We also offer advanced tools for evaluating your pet’s heart and cardiovascular system.
Echocardiography uses ultrasound to evaluate the heart’s chambers, valves, walls, and movement. Doppler technology allows our team to assess blood flow and can help investigate heart murmurs, heart disease, and congestive heart failure.
Holter monitoring provides a continuous recording of your pet’s heart rhythm, typically over 24 hours, while they remain comfortably at home. This can help identify abnormal heart rhythms, investigate fainting episodes, or monitor the effectiveness of certain treatments.
The right diagnostic test depends on your pet’s symptoms, history, and individual needs. Our veterinary team combines physical examinations, laboratory testing, imaging, and specialty expertise to build a complete picture of your pet’s health.
With advanced diagnostics available under one roof, OPVMC can help move your pet from questions to answers—and from diagnosis to treatment as efficiently as possible.
